facial aesthetics
Vistabel is the only licensed Botox treatment in the UK. See www.allergan.co.uk for more details on this. Botox and Vistabel are produced by Allergan of the USA; and Dysport by Ipsen of the UK, they are all Botulin type A and are essentially the same.
Botox was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for cosmetic use in April 2002 and was granted a licence in the UK from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in March 2006.
Each is a quick, simple non-surgical procedure that smoothes away wrinkles on your face and other areas of the body. The procedure is effective for crows-feet, lines between your brows and around your mouth. Botulin A works by paralysing the nerves which supply the facial muscles. This causes a relaxation of the muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. The effect lasts up to 3 to 6 months – the time taken for the nerves to regenerate. The results are apparent within days of the treatment, with optimum results after two weeks.
